 About Us 

Dr. Andrew T. Goldstein grew up in Bridgeton, New Jersey and graduated from the University of Virginia and the University of  Virginia School of Medicine. He pursued his internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Beth Israel Medical Center. After completing his residency, Dr. Goldstein moved to Annapolis, Maryland and started the Sexual Wellness Center which is devoted to the treatment of female sexual dysfunction. In 1999, he joined the faculty of the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and he became the Director of the Center for Vulvovaginal Disorders in Washington, D.C. and New York City in 2002.

 

Dr. Goldstein is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and he has been elected as a Felllow of the International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Disease and to the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology. Dr Goldstein is a grant recipient of the National Vulvodynia Association, and he is President-Elect of the International Society for the Study of Women's Sexual Health. He is the editor of the textbook Female Sexual Pain Disorders: Evaluation and Management  that was be published by Blackwell-Wiley in February 2009. He also recently co-authored the chapter on female sexual dysfunction for the Johns Hopkins Manual of Gynecology and Obstetrics and his book Reclaiming Desire was published by Rodale Books in 2004 and the second edition of that book was released in 2010. Lastly, Dr. Goldstein's newest book When Sex Hurts was released by DaCapo in January 2011. 


Dr. Goldstein is actively involved in research and has published more than 75 peer-reviewed abstracts, papers, and chapters on lichen sclerosus, lichen planus, and vulvar vestibulitis syndrome. He is an Associate-Editor of the Journal of Sexual Medicine and The Female Pateint. Dr. Goldstein lectures frequently on the subjects of vulvodynia, vulvar disease, and female sexual dysfunction. He has been interviewed by ABC's 20/20, The View, The Dr. Oz Show, Good Morning America, Discovery Health, TLC, Allure, Prevention, the Washington Post, USA Today, and the New York Times.

 

Dr. Goldstein's wife, Gail, is a dermatologist in Annapolis, Maryland. They have three wonderful daughters: Lena, Mimi, and Julia. Together they enjoy skiing, scuba diving, wine tasting, and adventurous travel.

 

 

Dr. Lara Burrows grew up in Connecticut. She completed her undergraduate degree at New York University where she earned a degree in psychology; research that she performed as an undergraduate was featured prominently in Malcolm Gladwell's best selling book Blink. She graduated from the Dartmouth School of Medicine and then completed her Ob/Gyn residency at the John Hopkins Hospital. She continued her post-graduate training at NYU and the University of Pittsburgh where she completed a fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. She also obtained a Master's in Clinical Research Design and Statistical Analysis.

            Dr. Burrows is the author of more than 40 peer-reviewed articles and abstracts and is regarded as an expert in the evaluation and treatment in female pelvic floor disorders, and interstitial cystitis. She is the senior associate editor for the textbook Female Sexual Pain Disorders: Evaluation and Management. In addition, she is the co-author of 101 Questions about Vulvar Disease that was be published in 2009. 

            Her husband is a plastic surgeon who specializes in hand and breast surgery. She has a three-year-old son and a four-year-old daughter. In her spare time, she enjoys decorative furniture painting and restoring 17th and 18th century French and Italian furniture.  

 

 

 

Dr. Marianne Brandon is a Clinical Psychologist, and a Diplomat in Sex Therapy through AASECT. She completed her doctoral training at Ohio University and her internship at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. Dr. Brandon is also a graduate of a post-doctoral fellowship in eating and weight disorders from the Sheppard and Enoch Pratt Hospital in Baltimore.


Dr. Brandon contributes regularly to professional publications, and lectures to sex therapists, physicians, psychologists, and the public. She co-authored the book Reclaiming Desire: 4 keys to finding your lost libido with Dr. Goldstein. Her new book Monogamy was published in 2010

Dr. Brandon is a member of the Maryland Psychological Association; the American Psychological Association; the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology; The American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists; The Society for Sex Therapy and Research; The International Society for the Study of Womens Sexual Health; and The Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality. The following are among the issues in which Dr. Brandon has special interest and training: depression, low sexual desire, anxiety, stress, relationships, sex therapy, sexual pain disorders, weight disorders, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. She has presented seminars on topics relating to personal growth, sex therapy, low libido in women, sexual pain disorders, and on stress-related disorders such as depression, anxiety, and eating disorders.
